Strange Sounds in Strange Places - Livia documents my audio and photo explorations around the Livia woodlands in Greater Manchester during my my Abandon Normal Devices Festival 2010 residency in Manchester, UK. The Livia Forest includes four really cool parks, Prestwich Forest Park, Phillips park, Drinkwater Park and Clifton Country Park.

Come to the “Strange Sounds in Strange Places” Workshop!
The “Strange Sounds in Strange Places” workshop is on Thursday October 7th and runs from 1100 to 1400! I’ll be leading the group through the ideation and creation of an outdoor sound installation using elements from electronic, mechanical and environmental audio ecosystems. We’ll do a brief tour of the area, discuss the aesthetics and techniques of field recording and create our own field-recordings. We’ll then construct our own wind-powered tin can Aeolian harps for use in our group-constructed outdoor sound installation.
